June 7, 1883 (The Commonwealth, a newspaper of Scotland Neck, NC, 2d page)
I shall sell for cash in front of the Court House door in Halifax, on Monday the 2nd day of July, 1883, the following tracts of land to satisfy the State and county tax due for the year 1882:
One tract lying in Palmyra Township containing Fifteen Hundred and fifty Nine acres, the property of R.R. Burwell.
The interest of Frank Toodle in Three Hundred and Ninety acres lying in Palmyra Township and listed by William Toodle.
J.T. Dawson, Collector
B.I. ALsbrook, Deputy,
June 2, 1883.
[On Ancestry, the 1880 census for Palmyra, Halifax, NC, shows a Frank Toodle. His sister and nephew lived with him, Ann and James Brooks. He was born about 1853 in North Carolina. It appears that William Toodle was born about 1845, also on the 1880 census.]
