Winston Sentinel: Mr. T.F. Anthony, Of Surry county, has in his possession a pet crow one year old that will rival many a “pretty poll” in its use of the English vocabulary. The bird also fills the bill as a guard, and like the geese at Rome gives notice upon the approach of strangers.
[There is a T.F. (Thomas F.) Anthony on the Marsh, Surry County, NC, census for 1840 through 1880. He was born about 1812, so if this is him, he would have been approximately 71 years old at the time of this article. He was married to Cyrena/Sirena.
FamilySearch.org has at least two records that might be the T.F. Anthony found on census records: LZ8K-VDL but the dates are slightly off (birth 1800 and death 1880) and 9M2X-ZFZ which has the birth year as 1811 but no other information. It might be that these two records are for the same individual and should be merged.]
