Banner Enterprise

May 31, 1883 (The Banner Enterprise, an African American newspaper out of Raleigh, NC, 3d page)

Miss Pearl, daughter of Col. and Mrs. Geo. T. Wassom, of Goldsboro, after spending a few days in the city, left for her home last Monday.

_______________

[So, I am really not sure whether the information I found on Ancestry.com is this Pearl Wassom. Everything seems to match up in all the points–except that she would have been 7 years old when visiting her parents in Raleigh (I presume), from Goldsboro. This George Wassom was a laywer, her mother was F.E.H./Frankie and was a teacher. this Pearl was born about 1876, and she married Leslie V. Mockridge in 1909 in Arizona. She had a younger sister named Mabel.]
