Washington 1815

May 5, 1815 (American Recorder, a newspaper of Washington, Beaufort, NC, 3d page)

Ten Dollars Reward.

Ran away from this subscriber, on the night of the 29th ult. my negro man

(Who calls himself Tom Walker). He is about 26 years of age, slim made, very black, very talkative, and impudent; he has been branded with the letter T on each check, but it does not appear very plain.

Whoever will bring him to me, or secure him in jail, shall receive the above reward.

All matters of vessels are forbid carrying him away under the penalty of the Law.

Thomas Trotter.

May 5.
