Mr. Bond’s Tobacco Damaged on the Road, NC, 1883

year 1883

March 8, 1883 (The Commonwealth, a newspaper of Scotland Neck, NC, 3d page)

We are sorry to learn that Mr. Bond, who shipped a lot of fine tobacco from this place recently, sustained great loss by getting his tobacco seriously damaged. It was fifteen days on the road between Scotland Neck and Henderson. Where the delay was made we are not informed. We learn that he lost about 80 per cent. of the true value of his tobacco.
