Hannah, William; Iowa, born about 1859

The Cedar Rapids Republican of the 7th says that on Friday the 4th inst, while Wm. Hannah, aged 15 years, accompanied by another boy were hunting near Mt. Vernon, Iowa, accidentally shot and killed himself instantly. In trying to show his comrade how a boy killed himself a few years ago near Lisbon, he placed the muzzle of the gun near his head, lifted the hammer with his foot when it slipped off and discharged the load through his brain. His father, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon and former president of Lyons Seminary is well known in this part of the State and will receive the sympathy of his many friends.
